Halloween ComicFestOctober Editorial
Mark your calendars for Halloween ComicFest on October 27. This is basically a second Free Comic Book Day, but with many of the comics focused on spooky titles or special issues. There's at least one definite Halloween issue and another for Dia de Muertos. Titles range from kid-friendly to YA to older, and come as full-size and mini comics. Pick them up, read them, then hand them out to trick-or-treaters!
Features opens with an interview with one of our favorite comic creators, Jeremy Whitley, about some of his latest comics, which hit shelves this month. Looking at Loki examines the Norse god in the pages of The Avengers (2018) #2 and #3. I provide a brief review and look at the re-release of Mike Mignola's Bram Stoker's Dracula movie adaptation. Tart Patti compares Atomic Blonde to the comic it's based on, The Coldest City. Tart Lori looks at a few of Comixology's free comics, including a Hellboy 20th anniversary sampler.
Culture Vultures opens with Tarts taking a look at Iron Fist Season 2, and it seems the series is picking up. Tart Lori gives creepy recommendations for Netflix watching, so bring out your orange and black popcorn (or caramel apple popcorn, which I saw in a store recently!). Tart Wolfen begins her coverage of Dracon Con 2018. Tart Lori has a "conversation" with Mary Shelley, prepping us for the upcoming movie. Two Tarts review Hotel Transylvania: The Series, which should definitely be on your watch list (and it's all on Netflix at the moment).
The Report Card is where you'll find reviews. These are graded on a scale of one to ten. New and upcoming comics from a variety of publishers and creators may be just what you're looking for. |
