Super Women: Supernatural's SairieHaili Page
Best known for her roles as the fearless little girl in Blade: Trinity and the human face of the casualties in the Battlestar Galactica miniseries, actress Haili Page appeared in Supernatural season one episode 'Home' as Sairie, the eldest child of the family now living in the house where Mary Winchester was killed.
Sequential Tart: What've been your favourite acting experiences so far?
Haili Page: Well, that's a toughy, but I would have to say Blade: Trinity.
ST: Have there been any that have been especially difficult for you?
HP: The most challenging role so far was a show called Deadly Visions. It had Nicolette Sheridan in it and I had to be very serious and look deep deep into her eyes as if talking to my mother who passed away.
ST: Some of the programs and films you've been in have had scary or disturbing content — have there been times when you haven't been able to watch the finished product?
HP: Oh no, once you've seen how films are made, you know that it's not really that scary. And it's cool to see the other actors who have become your friends perform also.
ST: What was making Blade: Trinity like? Your character remains so calm and collected, what was it like to play her?
HP: I reeeeaaally enjoyed making that film, it was so cool; when I had to do the screaming part that was a bit tiring because we had to do it a few times and my throat was getting sore. But I got to see a lot of cool stuff like the sword and the main vampire costurme and how that worked. I also got a few fighting tips and lessons from Jessica Biel and her trainer. Everyone was super nice. Ohh, and the food was awesome.
ST: In your Supernatural episode, when the closet door opens and you scream, it's a very impressive scream! Since the monster was added in with special effects later, what did you think about for that scene?
HP: When we filmed that scene there was actual fire in front of me, which helped, but I just thought about if I was at home in my own bed and there was a fire in my closet.
ST: What was your experience guest-starring on Supernatural like?
HP: Supernatural was really cool also. I was very excited to meet the main characters and they were very nice to me. I actually almost didn't get to do the show because I came down with strep throat the first day on set and had to take a week off. I was so lucky they re-arranged everything so I could still be in it.
ST: What are some of your favourite movies? I've heard that your dog's named Ewok — are you a big Star Wars fan?
HP: No, I've never seen the show, just the pictures. My favorite shows are Ice Princess, A Cinderella Story, and I love Back to the Future 1, 2, 3. I've seen Back to the Future at least fifty times and never get tired of it.
ST: Do you think you'll continue acting in the future? Are there any particular kinds of roles you're itching to try playing?
HP: Oh, defintely, I love acting, I would love to do a fun kids' comedy. I've always done more serious roles, so definitely comedy.
ST: What do you like to do when you have free time?
HP: I love to ice skate. I take figure skating lessons three times a week and go to public skating three times a week, also. I love spending time with my little sister and little brother, and of course playing with my dog.
ST: Anything else you'd like to talk about?
HP: I would just like to thank all the fans that leave messages for me on my web page, as I do read them, and for all the wonderful fan mail I recieve.
